The City of Parchment entered into a cooperative services agreement with the Charter Township of Kalamazoo for the provision of police services. The Kalamazoo Township Police Department provides dedicated road patrol, investigations, school liaison, administrative and records keeping and dispatching services to the residents of Parchment at a significantly reduced cost. The cooperative arrangement will save an averaged $115,370 per year over the two-year period of the agreement.

The Fire Chief manages a Fire Department of 17 paid on-call firefighters providing fire suppression and emergency medical response.

The City of Parchment Fire Department utilizes a 2004 Pierce Saber 1250 GPM pumper with 750 gallons of water and an 8 person cab, and a 1989 Pierce Lance 1250 GPM pumper with 750 gallons of water and a 10 person cab to respond to all calls for service.
